GRIME1: Back In The Day

Don’t really feel much new grime, but dude Smasher has this tune on his myspace. Check how it drops bits of all the classic tunes he’s talking about. Great flow too.

Catch Records on The Bamboozla Blog!

So over on the Soul Clap blog we we’re just talking about Angie Brown (the early 90’s queen who had some big hits with Bizarre Inc). So it seemed an appropriate time to drop my first Banana Republic/Baffled/Catch post because Angie Brown was 1/2 of Yasang who released one track which was produced by Bugz In The Attic, and then picked up by Catch and remixed by Banana Republic. I’m gunna get into more details about the label and producers in the future, but for now just enjoy this soulful 4×4 bumper from 1997 that I love and now you can too.

If you’re more into deeper house than make sure to check this post on Soul Clap for the Roy Davis Jr. mix of this track and a classic Bobby & Steve / Zoo Tribe jam that I know you know.

2-STEPSOUL1: Another Level

So if you’re British I guess you probably know all about Another Level, but I’m not so I don’t really. I guess dudes we’re some kind of pop/r&b group in the late 90’s and they had some serious remixes by garage heavyweights released on Maximum Productions (which must be their label cause they’re the only artists on it?). Dane Bowers went on to drop 2 major hits Buggin’ and Out Of Your Mind (w/ Truesteppers & Victoria Beckham of all people) in ’00 and Wayne Williams had a scorcher with All About The Sex on Black Ops in ’03. But, back to the point. This here is one of my a favorite remixes, a straight soulful stepper from the one and only MJ Cole aka the dude on the keys. Killer.

search & destroy candy floss hotflush records on the bamboozla blog

Alright, let’s jump forward like 7 years. I got this vinyl at Black Market in 2004 at the advice of my dude Martin “Liberty” Larner and have not regretted it once. This is Search & Destroy‘s first release and it’s on one of my favorite (and most prolific) dubstep labels: Hotflush. It’s still probably the most soulful dubstep tune I’ve heard. Don’t sleep.

Groove In Motion Electric Runnings DFL Records Mark Yardley Stanton Warriors Garage on The Bamboozla Blog

Groove In Motion was one of Mark Yardley‘s first projects. Bumpy 4×4 bassline biznes was the style before he joined forces with Dominic B, went breaky and transformed into Stanton Warriors. Dude has a grip of serious classics so expect many more…

The Old Bamboozla Banner

You remember the old Bamboozla blog. It had music and videos and other things. Before that E-Heavy was a UK Garage DJ that held down Beantown and toured all over the world. So we’re bringing the O.G. back. Stay locked.
